Her level of delusion is remarkable.
It’s not just self-delusion, which is frighteningly common among our political class (and at which she also excels), but a thoroughly complete delusion about the entire universe around her.
I’m not sure I can name an equivalent from the left. The sort of folks when might be so completely wrong about everything are consigned to the minor socialist and communist parties, never making it close to the mainstream — though perhaps some echoes of an equivalent delusion are present among the new crop of independent MPs.
I’m actually growing fond of seeing it. Not her, of course, but of her place in our political discourse. Her conduct on election night was hilarious, and her flirtations with American politics in particular since have been wild. I’d rather she go away entirely, but in a perverse way I’m glad she’s providing such entertainment.
