About a decade ago, Tesla rigged the dashboard readouts in its electric cars to provide “rosy” projections of how far owners can drive before needing to recharge, a source told Reuters. The automaker last year became so inundated with driving-range complaints that it created a special team to cancel owners’ service appointments.

It’s amazing what one person’s actions can do to an entire brand. For the first several years after the Model S release I was sure that my next car is going to be a Tesla. Now, I’m 100% sure that I’ll never buy one.

Tesla’s secret team to suppress thousands of driving range complaints

The phrasing of the title had me thrown for a second as I wondered if the complaints were about the quality of the golf balls at Tesla’s practice facility(s) and how I missed knowing that Tesla had a golf division.

Curious how/if this will influence the recently released report saying EV batteries are performing better than expected when it comes to longevity.

I’m tired of hearing about him too but unfortunately Tesla and Twitter are high profile companies. When they are in the news, he is unfortunately associated.

                Literally, no. Subject wise, yes.

Twitter ain’t shit - people obsessing.
Twitter is shit and so people are obsessing.

Same thing. If it’s shit, ignore it and move on. Make your own Twitter. You never owned it, you have no right to claim it ever was or ever will be anything. You’re a dude looking from the outside in, whining.

                  “looking from the outside in”

Actually, no, I’m on the inside because there are certain people I want to keep up with on every platform because they haven’t transitioned out to Mastadon/Lemmy/Pixelfed/etc yet and may never. Doesn’t mean I give them significant traffic. I rarely if ever comment on T/X, and all promoters get autoblocked with browser extensions.

I’m minimizing engagement and benefit to T/X, which is still shit, and I have to manage it, but only until the few people I care to keep up with there move somewhere else.

Tesla doing more shady shit, shocker. I can’t believe 5 or 10 years ago I thought this guy was some kind of Tony stark. I’m thinking that back then he just had a better PR team to manage him, and now that he’s rich enough he just stopped giving a fuck.

What I don’t understand is, given his industries he is part of, why he is cozying up to the political right. As far as I know, they’ve always hated “hippy dippy” electric cars. And rockets are “nerd” shit. So the pivot is very strange. It’s like a gay club trying to attract straight people.

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t give a fuck about the underlying businesses, he only cares about clout chasing (cosplaying as dollar store Tony Stark) and making money, and his choice in industries reflects that: self driving cars and getting off world.

I don’t believe for one second that he actually believes in what he does, outside of taking over SpaceX to try to make a new South African Emerald mine colony on Mars.

CEOs and the rich in general are dictators at heart. They get their way through threats and violence. They and the right-wing are two peas in a pod.
