Us therapists have known this for a while. Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers pay privately because they’re in a catch-22 situation. If they get the help they need in an open way then they are suspended or something, so instead they just don’t get help and pretend that it’s all good so that they can keep their jobs. And the aviation industry seems to think there is nothing wrong with this because if you don’t admit to having emotional problems then they don’t exist, right?
Duh. Did you know adhd is an automatic disqualifier of a pilots license? Bam! That’s why I don’t go in. I’d rather manage it than lose my license.
Well there go that random “this could be fun” idea.
Yes, you can still go for demo flights and with a CFI but can’t be the pilot in command.
For fun, you can check any medication at the Medication Database to see if you can fly while on it.
Also! MAJOR UPDATE: You may be able to fly under certain circumstances. August 2023, the FAA updates the terms for ADHD: https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2023/september/06/faa-eases-burden-for-many-pilots-with-adhd-history
Like they guy that intentionally tried to crash the plane?
