Not that it necessarily justifies it, for as usual, the video starts by omitting the “before” context. But 4 seconds into the video, person in the white car is trying to climb out holding what appears to be a beer bottle.

Drunk driving is definitely “punch in the head” worthy, so if that’s the case here…

If it’s not the case, what happened prior to the start of the video?

@BootlegHermit Yeah. From the report, the driver was seriously violent, aggressive, and uncontrollable. They had to tase him as well. I wasn’t posting to criticise the police (for once) but just because it’s (a) interesting and (b) just down the road from me :)

Not sure about you but if I was dazed and confused after a car crash and a cop repeatedly smashed me in the head after trying to get out of my smashed car I’d be described as “seriously violent, aggressive, and uncontrollable” and need to be tased too.

Assuming it is a beer bottle and the cop was trying to collect evidence which I think the body cam would have been plenty. A “ here let me hold that for you whilst you get out” and after extracting himself “you’re under arrest, please put these handcuffs on” would have worked much better.

When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail. It wouldn’t surprise me if this officer didn’t have the skill set you’re suggesting he use
