Krafton claimed that the executives who were fired had just stopped working on the project, which is partially supported by the execs own statements that they’re stepping back to focus on personal projects.
Both parties have reasons to lie in this instance due to the massive bonus.

I know, I was being sardonic. It’s insane to suggest that a $600+ phone is a budget option.
And a washing machine is still a washing machine, smart features or not. Every washing machine is going to have a controller board that can break.
