  • I would not say people are coming more prudish, but rather policies are. Why? I assume because cash is king, and the best way to get cash is in advertising. Advertising has always been prudish since it needs to appeal to the masses.

Policy eventually influences/dictates culture. This is most obvious with the world ‘unalive’.

Another idea, is that we are becoming significantly more moral and have increase civil rights. How does this relate? Well, if you grew up in the 90s or 00s you know that being told you were gay was not a joking matter, but a serious claim that could make you a social pariah. Now calling someone ‘gay’ as an insult is not as socially acceptable, is that because we are more prude or more moral?

I think what a lot of people identify as ‘prude’ culture is just another perspective of an attempt at being more moral and inclusive.

  • When I was a child, I would lay awake at night, in retrospect it was anxiety and depression due to loneliness (only child, sheltered, private school with less than 10 kids).

What I did, without the knowledge or concept of anxiety and depression, was that I would let me thoughts run and I would use logic and reasoning to get through them.

“What if a kid makes fun of me for this and that?” “I would then do this”, and then I would play out every single possible situation in my head on what the most common, worst, and best outcomes were.

A decade of doing that helped me.

  • The solution is to have dynamic personalized tutorials.

Lets take Death Stranding 2 for example, since I think its played a lot by working adults.

Death Stranding has a lot of story, relationships, and game mechanics they slowly throw at you. But when you take a break for 1-3 months it can definitely be difficult to remember what you were doing and how to do it.

They already have tutorials in their VR system, but that just goes over the basics. It would be neat if the game took the metrics they collect on you, to teach you how to use your most common moves and such.

It would also be neat if they could have a mentor system where the tutorial would then teach you new mechanics you ignored if it would help you out immediately (totally optional of course).

  • So I am a linux user, but use Windows 11 for work. I am an accountant in the school system.

Windows works fine for my work purposes. Especially when a lot of applications are being removed for web clients. I still use quite a bit of desktop applications, but I see the writing on the wall; soon all my work can be done on any device.

When the desktop application in work spaces finally die, I am curious if industries will switch to linux since its free and can be run on any hardware essentially. That or maybe owners will force their workers to use their own devices (phones, like Samsung DeX) to do work.

  • Good idea on the surface, but complicated in practice.

    • where is the labor/money coming from to sell those coffee? I don’t know about you guys buy I rarely see people vote for a raise in taxes for any reason, especially in education.

    • teachers do not want parents to be there longer than necessary, parents are the number one reason why teachers leave their career behind. More parent to teacher contact, rather than just restricting to just emails, is a terrible idea

  • Definitely.

Its ignoring that people’s use of their personal vehicle is actually for work purposes, commuting; and guess what? People don’t like to commute and try to get it down as quickly as possible.

His situation does work for people on road trips, but ignores the daily lives and routine of everybody that works for money.

Another instance of CEOs having immense privilege and literally cannot fathom or understand how normal people operate. I mean, just go stand outside a 7/11 for 30 minutes and start counting how many people go inside vs getting their gas and go.
