The main issue is that in reality, 95%+ of people aren’t using an encrypted service. So it’s proton to Gmail usually

…email will inherently be a lot less secure than messaging, no matter what you do.
If you truly want to be private about something, don’t email it lol

4·2 days agoDo you think someone will change their gender legally just so they can make like $15 extra on uber (driver’s perspective) or to get into “female only cars”? (passenger perspective)

11·2 days agoAnyone can break any law or regulation, doesnt mean that we give up laws and regulations.
And likely not. Most services already ask you about your gender (even like reddit or tumblr) so I assume that will suffice and we wont have “ID verifying gender”
Or maybe some conservative hack will propose ID verified gender, who knows.

41·2 days agothis place never fails with its reddit-isms and lack of nuance. If you want data, look at SA data and see the demographics of the victims vs the demographics of the perpetrators. This is a tool to give peace of mind and potentially lower SA on ubers.

102·2 days agoI don’t think this will meaningfully hurt male drivers. Most women likely won’t use this option, or they will in scenarios like being drunk and alone only (so very situational). People are pretending like 50% of the population just chose to self segregate at all times for no reason.

42·2 days agoAsking “what gender do you identify as?” isn’t tyranny and does not involve uploading your ID. Pretty much most services I know ask “what is your gender?”

145·2 days agoIt’s not stereotypes if statistically, most people who are SAd are women and most of the perpetrators are men. This isn’t just “peace of mind.”
Ask a woman who is drunk after the club late at night if she would prefer a male or female driver when she’s alone in an uber/cab and 99% will say yes.
But people will say like “oh but statistically some race commits more crime, is racism ok?” it’s not the same because patriarchy is global and is found in most cultures, sadly. So a woman wouldnt exactly be much safer with a white man vs a black man.
I appreciate the effort but conservatives are not reading any studies.
“A central rationale of such policies, particularly in first tier-cities, has been to prevent severe overcrowding, infrastructure overload, and the emergence of large-scale slums during China’s rapid industrialization and urbanization phases. Shahid Yusuf, a Senior Adviser in the World Bank’s Development Research Group noted that the hukou system served as a “cornerstone of China’s urbanization strategy” by controlling migration and channeling migrants toward small or medium-sized cities rather than allowing unchecked inflows to the largest urban areas.”
this sounds…good?
