Here’s the reason why: Li-Ion batteries spend most of a charge cycle in an almost flat region. Simple battery gauges just read the voltage, so “Battery Low” happens shortly before it dies.

I’d prefer them to be transparent about it, though. I’ve seen comments on the videos along the lines of “glad you found the courage to do the voice overs yourself despite your French,” but no clarification in response or statement anywhere that I’ve seen. It’s one thing if it is obvious, like in the past; another if you really can’t tell anymore.

Okay yeah, the French voice appeared 9 months ago, with this video being the last one with a very different voice. From then on it’s the French guy, but they were changing it around a bit before.

The videos are still pretty good and clearly made with intent, but I feel conflicted about the voice.

Looks like a switching regulator. Why there are two of them I don’t know, but all those electrolytic caps, inductors, and beefy diodes around there are very telling.

The fuse is labeled as PTC so should be a resetting type that does not destroy itself on overload.

If the problem was indeed a bug shorting out the IC itself you probably have a good chance of getting it back by just replacing the IC, if you can identify it.

Github Actions really are horrible to work with. If I could spin up a container and test the commands on the fly that would make things so much easier. But having to do the commit push refresh webpage insanity every time… It is really cool when the pipeline works, but getting there is very painful.
