  • Kiriakou lied about being present at the torture of Abu Zubaydah. He claims the war on terror was what led the US to begin torturing. He does not go back to the School of the Americas or anything. His service record shows that he did spend a lot of time at stations where people were tortured, so it is weird he would lie about Zubaydah unless he was trying to change the 9/11 story for some reason. Even the Russians have kicked him out, and they let Russia Today just exist.

Larry Ellison’s app is the reason why you are getting “educated” by his videos. Videos of him saying ridiculous shit about sending people to places “worse than Jerusalem” were what went viral first. Then came a flood of videos edited to make him look more reasonable.

More on this in 179 days. You have 179 days of normalcy remaining.

  • Yeah I get what you’re saying, I can’t articulate it well. Not sufficiently moviebrained. There’s something in there about the way human structures have become the main portion of our reality mentally, reinforcing this circuitous feeling of being trapped in the same behaviors (in that I feel not going outside besides driving makes us act very repetitive, and makes the world beyond that feel less real, not just that it delivers The Themes. it’s easier to stay trapped in The Room where you had The Argument With Them which changed the shape of your room-world forever if you just keep going from your room to the other room to his or her room). Losing the suburban house and finding false, self-destructive comfort in an infinite inside feels on the nose, but not my nose in particular so idk. Is this just describing leaving childhood without growing beyond it? Is this one of those things which is too much part of my own experience to view from the outside? Even some of the music choices feel established to the point of being really boring to me but come across as creepy and otherworldly to others who saw it. I’ve spent too much time immersed in what they drew from to make this.

I find that much more interesting than the lorebrained urge to have the movie explicitly tell us “Async is doing this because of the profit motive, to create real estate”. The lack of explanation was the best part. Really hope any subsequent additions keep it sparing and keep focusing on the characters discovering the space itself, their consciousness interacting with it.

The least-explored part of the dimension’s properties is time. We see recursive elements over and over, Bobby’s shirt, Clark’s store especially. Time is clearly as unstable as space in there. But we haven’t dealt with any truly asynchrous moments yet. They had better not fuck it up!

tl;dr they made this movie specifically for me

  • Nah I get it exactly I have transcription brain disease but not Tiktok brain disease (although I have been successfully infecting myself with Xiaohongshu and Weibo brain). I had to take a break from the internet entirely and most media for like a year to recover from SCP Foundation and Tvtropes brain but I can interact with media normally now I think. Thank you for considering the broken and lost Zoomoids in your post.

I think the therapy stuff provided excellent structure to the movie. It felt like what a Twilight Zone-type episode blown up into a movie should be. However it would have been much better if it didn’t take therapy under capitalism quite as seriously (it doesn’t take it way too seriously just a little), and got more into how it fails to help people systemically even after they get past all the hoops of finding a therapist. How would I fit that into the movie? I have no idea. It’s very baked-in

  • Spoiler

Actually, there is something pointing to it being a global issue, the tape recorders in all languages, but scientists would be smart enough to do that anyways. Were the tape recorders to attract the creature, or to attract the future missing persons? Why would it be in all languages if it was only to bait the creature?

Edit: nah nevermind just checked that last bit with the gas trap, they were definitely baiting just the creature, so why in all languages? also clark is wrong (well obviously he’s insane) that the misduplicated people can’t feel pain, they clearly feel pain and fear, the red-haired woman runs and screams either hearing the pirate early or sensing him telepathically. Maybe they have a sort of “locked in” syndrome. Anyways the entities are of course the most spoilery part so I shouldn’t even mention that. We’re gonna see a city and a factory (?) of some kind (painting + the gear sound in the descent montage). I wonder if the creatures can just keep growing indefinitely if they keep eating stuff. They just don’t eat stuff usually because they’re not as motile as the pirate or it’s got something extra wrong with it.

Also “people” is a lie I only checked in with 2 reviews, but I like them so I don’t want to portray them negatively, I didn’t actually look at discourse for this movie. Frankly, I am afraid to do so

Nothing in this post references the content of the wall painting, my apologies. It’s right after the therapist (Mary) finds her way in
