This is a thing I have noticed in a lot of lemmy apps, there is no feature to go to a certain instance and view it locally. The closest is voyager for lemmy’s website, where you have to manually change the url, and then you can view the instance you want.
Amazing app so far, hope Mr.Mayayo sees this post.
Seconding this request - it would be really helpful if I could select guest mode then pick the instance I want to see and get to browsing.
Browsing /local on new instances is a great way to find new communities to follow, things don’t always make it to /all on my home instance.
Finally a comment that understands what I am saying, thank you kind sir.
You mean multiple accounts on different instances?
I think they mean guest mode on different instances? Maybe? I’m already using multiple accounts on different instances but it seems there is only guest mode for lemmy.world.
The guest mode appears to be for whatever instance you’re in, I can switch to my account for a different instance and the guest option changes to guest for that instance.
Oh nice, I hadn’t noticed that. I think before I first logged into an account however there only seemed to be guest mode for LW, but I could be wrong.
Otherwise I’m really not sure what OP is asking for…
No you were right in your first comment, I didn’t knew guest mode changes instance with your account, but don’t you think its a bit bothersome to have multiple account just to change instances? maybe a quicker method with guest mode would be nice.
Connect does this which is why it is still my primary lemmy app. Lets you ‘sign in’ as a guest into an instance and view stuff locally.
I see, I will check it out, but I really still love the boost UI
Liftoff allows you to do that
It’s called adding an account on boost. Once your account is added you can easily switch between them like ok boost for reddit
Kbin waving
Wefwef has this and is a pretty decent app. Click on your profile (middle button at bottom) then click “accounts” and pick your instance or hit the edit to add a new instance.
the same feature exists in boost, you can log in with accounts from different instances. but that is not what op was asking for
yup, I just want the ability to easily switch and surf different instances, dunno why these guys are talking about multiple accounts and stuff.
Why do you have multiple accounts?
In case your primary goes poof someday
In case you want to post from separate unconnected accounts for privacy
In case you want to build different profiles that are all subbed to different content
