Why? Why not?
I don’t care about the ranks themselves, but I am tempted to give it a go and see if it results in better matchmaking than standard play.
Personally, I wouldn’t enjoy playing with a bunch of other people who are tryharding or are toxic, and theres no way I can convince 5 friends to play regularly, so there’s no way I would enjoy ranked. Its bad enough as it is.
Ranked is solo queue only, so you wouldn’t be able to play with those 5 friends anyway.
People can’t queue for ranked if they’ve received any kind of sanction for text/voice chat.
:O
I’ve played one game of ranked and everyone was on their best behavior. The other team even paused for someone on my team needing to restart the game a couple times.
It’ll turn into a cesspool though obviously.
I’ve played 4 ranked games so far and they haven’t been that different from casual games tbh. Biggest difference is probably more comms and more focus on teamwork.
Sounds pretty different
The only communication I get on normal games is russians screaming in their mics and teamwork seems to be the duo lanes feeding Shiv so he’s 12/0 at 5 minutes, so I’m taking anything that can slightly improve that
I’ve had only good experiences in my handful of matches. People communicating, not being toxic, etc. the matches have been more balanced too.
Yes and if it doesn’t solve the issue of wildly varying teammates I will drop the game sadly.
TBF the matchmaking system is WIP in general.
They likely won’t be completely nailing it for a good while yet.
Before ranked mode it seemed not to be working at all to me anymore. So yea as long there is progress I am fine.
Probably not, I mostly play with friends
I’m probably going to be splitting my time depending on how I’m feeling that particular day. I’m not going to be attempting ranked matches if I’m tired from sleep dep and feeling like I can’t focus, but I am very interested in higher match quality and hopefully better matchmaking. I’m also very curious about how this experimental ranking algorithm will work, so I’ll have to at least give it a go. If they’ve managed to alleviate the immediate negative emotions of instant -MMR after a loss then that would be huge.
Yes, until the fix the shitty matchmaking system
It’s almost as if they’re testing many waters in this alpha game before they commit to a system.
Yoshi on the forums has also created a thread for people to send the match IDs for unfairly and/or weirdly balanced matches so they can analyse in detail
I’ll play it if my partner isn’t around but most of the time I’m playing duo so it’s not an option.
