Discord is commonly abhorred by the FOSS community as it’s commonly referred to as “the place where information is lost forever” so why would Signal be any better?
The reason why I bring this up is because you (an hour old account) are posting this on a fediverse forum where knowledge is more readily available for the public to share and learn from.
So no offence but I personally find it difficult to see as to why anyone should trust this on first glance.
Agreed. The only way I see this helping the community is if folks post the outcome of discussions in a searchable way, like on the official Discourse. Most don’t.
If you’re determined to join a group like this, the Nix/NixOS Matrix is a better option since it’s already 4k+ strong.

It’s also official and its logs are published here: https://logs.nixos.dev/ so the discussions happening there should (at least in theory) show up in search results instead of disappearing forever.
