I just dispute your take that this was always earnest. The knowyourmeme implies ironicposting

i never said it was always earnest. i said it was often earnest. mostly unironic. i used it unironically. my friends do. the community where i originally found the trope years ago used it unironically. you are more than welcome to post a star ironically and then there would be irrefutable proof of your claim but i don’t care

knowyourmeme page contains neither the word “ironic” or “satire.”

sorry if im being short here, you are probably just chatting for fun, but you’re just doing a thing that happens all the time where you tell me my words actually mean the opposite and it makes me upset because of how often it happens on here.

no means no, yes means yes. it doesn’t feel good for me to say “no” and get “i think you meant yes” in return.

I already said that I accept your use unironically. I don’t know what you’re upset about.

Anyway, you can continue using this, but you will continue to probably confuse people and end up in unnecessary misunderstandings like before 🤷

no worries its just that this conversation is representative of a larger pattern i deal with. i.e. i make a typo or bad grammar choice, correct it later and get “but you literally said (typo)” at the next turn of the conversation. this is just a silly example of the real issue

anyway yall just dont get my jokes and thats a you issue. i convinced the main person who misunderstood at first and this is literally the first time anyone misunderstood this (i use these stars a lot because they are funny)

never seen these before, so I guess we run in different circles. Find emojis or smilies usually achieve the same results.
