Being obese and being poor are mutually exclusive.

Edit because y’all are actually insane for taking this comment seriously.

However barring health disorders, being poor means you can barely afford food. Just because you spend all your money on McDonalds double quarter pounders and have no money at the end of the month doesn’t mean you’re poor. Walking is free. Eating vegetables is cheaper than buying meat. There is no secret to losing weight. Stop buying processed foods and eat more vegetables, take a walk around the block once a day. Stop making excuses for being lazy.

Before anyone says it doesn’t work for everyone, yes that is obvious. Again stop making excuses for lazy people. The majority of people can lose weight from light exercise and eating less food.

The nicest way that i can put it is that this has been true for most of human history until industrialization, let’s say that the 50’s is when industrial food starts to make poor people fat.

The less nice way to put it is that this hasn’t been true for 70 years. You are completely clueless to health food and poverty in the 20th century, let alone the 21st. Nowadays, eating nothing but the cheapest food will in fact make you fat, this is one of the main concerns of nutritional science today.

Obesity is considered low status because it shows you don’t have the resources to eat healthy. The cheapest, quickest foods are highest in fats and sugars.

All things that could be overcome with resources plus all those things are commonly attributed to poor people as well

You don’t need money to be a normal weight. Lots of homeless people who are of normal weight. Almost everyone can afford to eat what body builders eat like rice tuna beans and they are in peak physical shape. The difference is they care about their body and fat people don’t. Even if you don’t have time to work out you can still care about your body.

Do you think fat people don’t feel shame about their bodies? They don’t feel inferior or like failures?

Do those emotions sound like they could be experienced by someone who doesn’t care?

Poor people work jobs, sometimes multiple, sometimes with kids to take care of.

Do they go to the grocery store and pick up all the supplies needed to make healthy dinners for the week, then go home and cook for an hour and a half?

No they put something frozen in the microwave or they grab McDonald’s.

They dont have the financial capital to work less and they don’t have the energy capital to work more at eating right.

You should strongly consider that when you’re judging the fat people who wander into your life, or falling for racist propaganda that tells you poor black people in America must have it pretty good since they’re all obese.

Mutual exclusivity means you can’t be poor and obese at the same time. If you meant they are independent of each other though, that I get.

Not exercising doesn’t mean you’re obese. I know a guy who could be this person. He’s very skinny. He doesn’t exercise but he doesn’t eat much. And he eats the same food every meal.
