    If violence was so effective why did nothing change until the peaceful protest and union negotiations?

    It’s almost like getting people to actually engage in political discussions is more effective than hitting everything you don’t like with a club. Who would have thunk it?

      Man read a book on that time period.

      Those protests were not peaceful, a member of the business class almost got killed in his office.

      And the national guard killed kids, women.

      Striking and the threat of more striking is what happened not peaceful protests. And working folks died.
