Hi. Been awhile since I’d been able to check in due to significant amount of real life issues. As a result I’m not able to moderate as much as I used to nowadays. Since there’s only two mods including myself I decided to post a call to see if anyone’s up for moderating the page.
Main requirements are reading and understanding the community guidelines and being on lemmy pretty often and willing to moderate when a report comes in. If anyone knows and is willing to do an ownership transfer then I’m open for that too though I’m fuzzy on how that’s handled for Lemmy.
Hey there, I am willing to help, but I’ve never been a mod. I’m a pretty quick learner, but I would need some guidance in the beginning at least. I’m using Tesseract.
Approved. If you need some guidance then shoot a message and lemme know, I’m not the best by a long shot but I can give it my best.
Excellent. So far I think I’ve got it… I can see the reports and modlog for the community. I will do my best!
If you’re serious about transferring ownership, perhaps crosspost to: !comm_revival@lemmy.dbzer0.com
Good idea; posted there now. Dunno the steps on community transferring but I’m looking to do that with a few pages; least so my own irl stuff doesn’t stop a community dead in it’s tracks.
The supply demand issue is definitely a problem. Lot less people will to mod a community, even less people willing to post, than there are communities.
But something as big as !upliftingnews@lemmy.world should generate some interest (though one might wonder if it’s the good kind of interest.)
I would also like to volunteer, although I don’t really have any experience modding a lemmy community, is there a guide or something? I would love to help if I can
Approved. Not to my knowledge but if you have any experience modding communities on places like reddit or discord I don’t imagine it’s too dissimilar. Mostly just look at the guidelines and act on reports of trolling, spam, harassment, the usual.
Can you please make this (the one I am messaging with) a mod. I think my lemmings.world account did not get moderation (on my main account I am getting these messages for pending reports of moderation and this Lemmy currently doesn’t reliably federate reports to community moderators that are not on the community instance. Resolving reports is also not always federated across instances. For this reason we strongly recommend using at least a secondary account on the community instance to be able to reliably deal with reports.) I also tried to make this account mod from my main but that is not reflected back here (probably, whatever action i take as a mod on my main account does not get federated back to lemmy.world instance). So can you make this account a mod too?
let me test my powers
tests completed
this (the one I am commenting with now) is my alt account, I am also making it mod, because I was not getting reports on my main account
