Austrian police have arrested three young men, aged 14, 17, and 20, suspected of planning an attack on the Vienna LGBTQ+ Pride parade that drew over 300,000 participants.

Weapons were seized during the arrest, and the men, Austrian nationals of Bosnian and Chechen origin, were identified as Islamists, with one already known to police due to prior terrorism charges.

Austrian domestic intelligence chief, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, disclosed this information post-parade to prevent public anxiety, mentioning the ongoing threat from Islamic State (IS) that had been urging more attacks in Europe.
