This was all sorted out before Trump even won the election. AFAIK, nothing has changed significantly since then.
NASA fucked up. Biden told Musk to hold off getting them. Now Musk was able to get them.
I can’t find anything that suggests Biden did anything. All I can find is a claim that Musk has made (with no evidence) and a quote from an astronaut that says he believes Musk (and explicitly says he has no evidence to the assertion Musk made).
Musk also claims Biden kept the astronauts up there for political reasons. Which makes no sense. How does them being stuck up there help Biden or democrats in any way? If anything, doesn’t it make them look bad? Not that it should because there was already a backup plan in place. They’ve been following the backup plan this whole time.
What I can find are articles from August/September that say SpaceX was planning to get the astronauts in February of this year. Thjs link is for an article from the end of August, https://www.astronomy.com/space-exploration/a-brief-history-of-astronauts-stuck-in-space/. Again, that seems to be exactly the plan that has unfolded.
Until there’s some evidence otherwise, there’s no reason to believe what Musk is saying.
