I ask this because I’m in the process of moving fully to Linux mint and have a steam account in Linux. I don’t think EA has a program that runs natively in Linux. I’m wondering if there isn’t a way to grab the windows install file for legendary edition of Mass Effect and install it onto my Linux system understeam.
Or maybe there’s a more efficient way that somebody knows of to do this.

i clicked that link. I can see an Install button in the bottom center of the screen. but that just gives an error message of "No Apps available. No apps installed that can open “lutris:ea-app-standard”
so i’d say the install button won’t work.
Next I tried the download link at the top of the screen. From there i scroll down a couple pages and find Next to the line of Mint:

sadly i’m not sure where to go from there. I’m probably in the wrong page for what I need.
For that install button to work (install EA app), you need to have lutris installed beforehand.

I just noticed I can buy Mass Effect Legendary Edition in steam for $5.99 to run in linux until the 20th of this month. Rather then trying to install extra software just to play the game… I’ll just rebuy it … if it were like $50 or $60 I’d think nah I’ll get it working. but at $5.99? sheesh I should have checked that first. Time = Money.

i should ask . if i buy through steam in linux, will steam auto install the ea app? I doubt it but have to ask
AFAIK it does not. You’d have to manually install it. I haven’t tried installing EA games on linux. Hell even on windows they’re a pain in the ass. App sucks… triggers virus warnings which might or might not be false. EA sucks.

True, but it usually run just fine with Proton.
i just checked in software manager for mint. When I type Proton it shows

which of these would you suggest if i go the proton route?
Proton is built into Steam. So simply buy the game on Steam and install it. Steam does the rest. You might want to look at protonDB and see if there’s any recommended launch options for the game.
IIRC, Linux users also have to go to Compatibility under Settings and turn on “Steam Play for all titles” or Windows-only games in your account won’t show up.

Yeah not saying it won’t. OP was just trying to avoid ea app from what I gather.
I believe Lutris is actually in the Mint software center and could just be installed from there. If not you just need the .deb file from the github they link to and it should run like an installer… but I’m pretty sure it’s in the software store.
