    The auto manufacturers have already said that they can’t absorb a 25% tax. That increase will definitely be passed on to consumers.

    I have been on a Crusade for my entire adult life. I want economy shitboxes back.

    Small, cheap, great fuel economy, user servicable cars.

    And I mean cheap. Wind up windows, basic radio, no screens, cheap vinyl seats, etc.

    I want Ford Escorts and Geo Metros back. VW Rabbits. And I don’t want them so ridiculously overengineered that you have to drop the engine, transmission, and entire front suspension to change an oil filter. That shit is entirely unnecessary. As is the half ton of electronics and sensors. In fact the dumber the whole system is, the better.

    Fuel economy is what? 10mpg on avg better than it was with those cars 30 years ago? There’s no fuckin point. Other than making them more complicated and more expensive.
