Got the news - I got the job!
Funny thing was, they were trying to call me all week but they thought I wasn’t answering until they got through and found that they were calling the wrong number - it had somehow been entered wrong, so just as well I sent my resume through to the original person! Just a few extra bits of paperwork and the induction next Thursday and then we’ll see when I actually start (probably week after).

Well the funeral for my grandma was today.

It was an emotional day. I’m glad my friend came with me today to lend me some emotional support.

The eulogies were really hard to get through, more so for the speakers.

It was open casket so I got to see her and say good bye to her one last time.

I’m ready for a rest after today.

Just got back from port melbourne beach.

Been a while since I’ve been but that water isn’t too good. Swimming through a shitload of plastic and probably a thin layer of bunker oil.

Also poor form award to the wanker who was sinking tinnies and yelling at women that they looked hot. The beach should be a place where you can get your kit off and not have that shit happen.

Yeah, I’ve got to take them for seven days and not interact with anyone until I’ve scabbed over. Honestly, feel fine apart from an ear ache and the rash itself being annoying. Have been given a cert for next week as well, but might just WFH and save the leave for a time when deaths actually at the door.

Running the washing machine and cooling all day…zero grid usage.

Solar should be fucking compulsory in any property offered for rent

Omg guys I have gone to a 4/10 from a 1.5/10. Need to apply another coat of paint but we’re getting there 😳

    Link to photo: https://i.imgur.com/lv7iuLQ.jpg

mmm, unless you look really closely at the door - you can’t see the little divot but hopefully it’s gone with the second coat of paint. Else, do I wait for paint to dry and putty+sand again?

Based on that photo can’t even tell a hole was there. But second coat of paint definitely wouldn’t hurt.

Looks a bit more noticeable here, but you wouldn’t see it if it wasn’t exactly what you’re looking for. Sorry not sure why the photo is rotated https://aussie.zone/pictrs/image/89d40e6c-2eef-4b31-b26a-9d334b8752b4.jpeg

That does look much better - good job!

This photo is crashing the Boost app too though ☹️ . Is it possible for you to change it to a link instead?

Thanks, that stopped the crashing. I might play around in the testing community and try and figure out why it is crashing if I can.

I use Memmy on my iPhone and it gives me two options - upload via aussie.zone and upload via imgur. This particular img didn’t upload via aussie.zone so I went with imgur. Hope that helps with your debugging!

I have been trying to figure out how you uploaded it to show the image and I can’t replicate that, so I’m not sure how Memmy is doing the code. It will have to remain a mystery for now!

I has to be something to do with how Memmy saves the image on Imgur. I found the right link to the Imgur images so I can put in the coding for my own photo hosted on Imgur and it works fine, but any link to yours crashes Boost. I can open the picture in the app when it is a link, but it can’t open it within the comments. No idea why, but I have at least narrowed it down!

You gotta paint the entire front of the door

Is that necessary? Can I get away with just this side? I mean I have extra paint, no harm but if not needed then am happy to skip!

Just this side. Mask off the door edges and handle, then roller on the paint. Put newspaper/cardboard under door to catch stray drips & splatter. Don’t walk paint drips into the carpet. Damage never happened.

In my experience signs don’t get read.

We even have a big red notice on our office door at work not to knock (we are IT, but not end-user support, there’s a whole team for that). Knocking/thumping/banging on the door is an almost daily occurrence when someone can’t work out how to unmute their Zoom meeting…

Thankfully we have permission to tell them to take a hike but it’s still annoying!

Yeah, I get it. The no knock signs are legally enforceable if you can be arsed following through. I just yell at the ones who claim we’re exempt from that. I don’t care! between the sticker and my FUCK OFF doormat intent is clear. if you bother me you’re getting a serve.

It looks like I’ve got shingles (appt later to confirm since I’m developing the symptoms my specialist on Wednesday said to keep an eye out for)… What a pain in the fkn arse!

That’s going to be an embarrassing email to my new section since it’s contagious to those who’ve not had chickenpox.

@bananafungus @bot001 if they were born before 2005, yes, there’s going to be a cohort who could potentially be vulnerable to chickenpox who didn’t get vaccinated before it became part of the 18 month NIP vaccines.

I’m planning to get the shingles vaccine as soon as my GP gets stock, the rules changed on Nov 1st and now some are eligible for free. I don’t think I am but it’s meant stock has got stretched =p

You’d be doing well to have avoided Chicken Pox as a kid, though. I got Chicken Pox at 20: do not recommend chicken pox as an adult.

@bananafungus tbh everyone should be eligible for either shingles or chickenpox vaccine for free, because otherwise the scenario you are now in is going to crop up repeatedly for quite a while. I got shingles in my early 30s, and was lucky it wasn’t painful, but realised as I’m now older it will get more common to crop up and I might not escape the neuropathy 😬

I didn’t get any work done yesterday, but I did get started today - the trick was to tell myself I am good at what I do and people need me, and actually believe that for long enough to get the dopamine going. It probably helped that I caught up with someone from work yesterday. Stupid brain tricks, it’s like working with a petulant child sometimes to just pay for a roof over my head

The thread in the other place from someone thinking they were ripped off by their property manager is a trainwreck.

OP has now learned that monthly rent is not 4× the weekly rent.

And a bunch of commenters have learned that there aren’t exactly 52 weeks in a year either.

    Classic.
