Did your behaviour changed when you moved (parts of) your nsfw activities from reddit to lemmynsfw or the fediverse in general? If so, in what way?

My own experience so far

From the moment I could not see NSFW-posts on reddit anymore (because I only used it with a third-party app, and used it near exclusively for my NSFW-needs), I tought about it as a welcoming chance to quit consuming any new content and focus on everything I have collected in the past. Memories and fantasy included.

But as I am using another Lemmy instance for SFW-content it was only a matter of time until I joined here. So here I am, I guess.

Now I see this as an oppurtunity to not only consume, but also reflect about it why I am interested in the stuff I am interested in. It probably help me to grow. Also it seems to be more easy now to prioritize quality over quantity on here, aswell as a nice place to be part of and contribute to a community rather than make some people rich for example.

six posts in 12 years vs 200+ and counting in several weeks… I think the biggest difference is that your posts get seen, if you weren’t early, lucky, or posting incredible content it was like -1 and hidden. Not everything works here either but it lingers around longer before being buried

from a posting perspective, it feels less random here what gets upvoted. I think as others said because stuff is less likely to get buried

I dunno, I’m an edge case.

When it comes to porn, I don’t use it, and choose to block it. Did on reddit too. I’m not opposed to it, it’s just not something that I like for myself. Most of it is really shitty, and feels empty. I’d have to search a ton to find anything that isn’t like that, so I just gave up on it entirely.

Nudity, which isn’t the same as porn, even when it’s blatantly done to be used as such, I’m a bad audience for to begin with. I used to give people baths as part of my job. Twenty years of that, and nudity itself ceases to be arousing. I can appreciate the human body, but no nudity online is ever going to be porn for me.

I still enjoy good erotica though. It’s rare to find good erotic imagery online because it gets buried under the porn. But I enjoy it when I find it. And I used to write custom erotica, so I definitely don’t object to it lol. But you run into a quality issue, so it isn’t something I seek out.

I have most of the nudity/porn based C/s blocked now, but other nsfw stuff, like this C/, is still in my all feed.

On the rare occasion I want porn, it’s easier to use something i already know fits my needs, so I rely on searching for specific titles of old porn lol. When I’m in the mood to enjoy nudity as a form of beauty, it’s easy enough to just log out via browser and visit lemmynsfw or pornlemmy and scroll past the uninteresting stuff. Way less hassle than curating an nsfw specific account.

But all of this predates the r/efugee migration. I think the last time I logged into my reddit nsfw account was like five years ago? It was definitely pre covid. I had it logged in on slide, and would sometimes troll with it though lol. But on slide, you could comment from any account without having to switch.

I’m with you though, I prefer my imagination over random porn like you can find here or on reddit. I prefer written erotica to that as well. If want porn videos, I’ll rely on known examples

I never did pr0n on Reddit and I won’t here. I don’t need everyone on one site all the time. I have been blocking any NSFW community I come across, just not what I’m here for.

    Except this one, apparently. 😂
