    No, “don’t execute a file that shouldn’t be an executable” is not a “Windows thing”.

      I used to download those exes to my G4 and open them with Resedit to try to figure out how they worked and extract some strings.

      There weren’t enough Mac users to make it worth making executables like that.

        Oh, I’ve wirtten the odd prank virus for Mac in my time. Never spread them through the internet of course, but Mac users felt so secure they’d execute about anything and be terrified when the CD drive started acting up

          Remember the “virus” that put Oscar the Grouch in the trash can? I loved that one.

          Only time I actually got a virus on my Mac was from a MacAddict CD.

            I once did one where the screen would “crack” whenever you clicked. Like one of those desktop destroyer Minigames that were popular back then. It basically displayed an empty window in the foreground that would then load the cheap-ass crack-lines I had done in MS Paint. It was really obvious, since the program would even appear in the app shelf thingy of MacOS, yet ppl just freaked out every gawd damn time.
