Sounds interesting. I thought the writing team was often held back by the realities of game development. The Icebrood Saga, for example, was rushed to completion just as the story started to get interesting. I hope they start telling stories that are more self-contained for now, ideally with a villain that you can love to hate like Bangar or Joko. Saving all of Tyria from yet another world ending threat gets boring after the fifth time.

the last D&D movie was pretty funny and therefore pretty amazing. As long as it is entertaining and has a consistent tone I’m fine with everything and Guild Wars had a prett good balance so far!

I also think that the world of Elden Ring is a little too dark for Tyria…

      Various story spoilers:

!Palawa Joko literally tried to murder a teenage girl (Taimi) by turning her own golem against her, you fought clones of Zoja in HoT as they begged you to kill them, you listen to survivors in Bjora Marches scream in fear (and possible agony) as the Boneskinner drags them away to gods know where, and you watch Aurene die in her own vision in barbaric fashion again and again and again before it actually happens. !<

Tl;Dr Tyria is a dark fucking place at times and they’re not always afraid to show it. The only difference in tone between GW2 and ER is that ER is a lot more graphic and visually shocking.

Dont get me wrong, Guild Wars can be pretty dark and I also like it, especially that whole Mordremoth story with these bizarre cloned abominations of our beloved heroes. I just want that they keep the balance because Elden Ring was really, really dark. In fact at some point during my gaming sessions I really begged the game to brighten the fuck up, if only just a bit, because this dark world with all this death and decay really started to dragged me down

I am excited for this. They can really go dark with a story here. I just hope it will be well made, not rushed like Gyala Delve
