Is this real? Haha
I’m almost certain it’s not, at least not this exact wording lol
Fred
That part is the most believable to me.
I could see Marx being on nickname basis with Engels, but instead of “Fred” it would be “Fritz” in German. I just figured maybe it was translated.
I could also very well see Engels being pissed at Marx too, maybe after a drunken night, and Marx being self-conscious about it. Who amongst us haven’t been there? Haha
They used english in correspondence. Marx was calling Engels “Fred” in them. Example:
A decade before Burns died, what did he do to anger him enough he had to ask?
I’m not sure if this particular incident is about that but there is a notable one where Engels writes to Marx informing him about his wife’s death and Marx in his response asks Engels for money which upsets him a little bit which he makes known in his following response.
I think that’s what I was going for, but wrong decade according to the wiki for her.
i just wnated to nitpick that Engels was never married to Mary Burns. However, he was married to Lizzie Burns, Mary’s younger sister. He only married Lizzie on her deathbed, about an hour before she died.
Engels was a bit of a womanizer, like he slept with Sibylle Hess, who was the wife of a guy he hated Moses Hess. I’m personally of the opinion he’s the one who got Helene Demuth pregnant, the Marx family’s housekeeper.
Thanks. Didn’t know that.
do you have a link to it? I really want to read that now lol
I hate when my two besties fight
