Do I understand Norwegian? No.
Does that stop Tusmorke from being very high on my list of favorite non-heavy bands? Also no.
I was trying to think of something interesting I could post here, and was thinking something folk-y, but had the thought “What else sounds similar to Tusmorke? They’re too popular…”. Because I listen to them so often, they just stuck in my head as a popular band. Popped on to spotify to check monthly listeners, and I don’t think there’s any conflict… (Check Jordso and Agusa if you want more similar bands)
LOL - you started mentioning other bands and in my head I thought Agusa, who I think these days is a bit better than Tusmorke.
I do agree that Agusa has been more consistent. I am not a big fan of Leker For Barn or Intetnett from Tusmorke, but their older stuff will always hold that special place in my heart as the albums that just totally captured me. Hestehoven and Dawn of Oberon were welcome returns from whatever the hell was going on in Intetnett lol
I’m not actually super familiar with anything outside the few bands I’ve mentioned, do you have any other suggestions? This genre/style is really an island by itself in my normal music rotation, but it’s a happy little island that I visit pretty often.
Jordsjø for sure! Also: Vesilinja, Grovjobb, Hadal Sherpa (first album), Kebnekasje, probably Jupiter Fungus and Malady, maybe Zopp.
Let me know if any of these do it for you!
