What are your favourite FOSS mobile apps?
I’m looking for alternatives for everything, from messaging to ebook readers to RSS readers to podcast players and so on.
Particularly interested in music players that can handle m4a files from when I was buying music from Apple not realising how blockheaded that was.
Hopefully apps that care about user privacy.
I’m on Android, but feel free to share iOS options for anyone who might be helped by those tips, too.
Can I get a boost, @opensource?
What do you think of Librem 5? I got mine a month ago, but don’t have the time to explore it yet. First things I noticed is that it gets really hot, and the battery doesn’t last that long.
Yeah both of those things are still fairly accurate. Its rare it gets hot, but it does get warm when charging or heavy use.
The battery is still the biggest painpoint, but its gotten so much better. I spent about 4 hours on work calls today, browsed the web a bit, and am now on about 10 hours since it left the charger with 18% left. Not excellent, but usable if you charge it partially midday, which I normally do but forgot today.
I am optimistic that it will keep improving.
That’s really not bad at all. I kinda want to connect it to a dock, set up everything then start using it. I even planned adding all of my bash scripts to use it to troubleshoot on the go. Thank you, you got me excited for it again.
