It’s the “Gaslight Universe” (Gotham by Gaslight etc.), which in The Horror That Came to Gotham, the whole story revolves around a Lovecraftian entity being discovered and brought back to Gotham, which begins to take over the minds and bodies of everyone in the city.
Knowing that, I think it’s kinda cool to come up with a different origin for a different version of a well-known character.
That title is absolutely click bait, though.
