The rascist/nationalist fuckery around internal borders is peak EU hypocrisy. I’m from Eastern EU, and drive a lot between Germany and my home country, so I see this often on my trips.
Cars are slowed to a crawl first at the Austrian border, where me, a white guy driving a newish car with German plates is waved through, but e.g. Romanian license plate cars are stopped often. Then a bit after crossing the German border, cars are slowed again to 10 km/h, but it is technically not a border crossing, just a random checkpoint on the highway staffed by policemen with rifles.
This shit adds hours to the trip of any commuter, is pure performatory right-wing bullshit, and goes against every value that the EU preaches.
I wonder how they handle cross-border train rides…
I don’t remember ever being delayed or stopped on swiss /french or swiss/german crossings in a train.
Isn’t Switzerland also in Schengen? Also I think the additional border checkpoint are relatively recent and OFC riddled with racial profiling (their whole justification being racist too)
Yes, it is. The whole point of this thread is useless bullying within schengen, no?
Exactly, but I am confused by your tone or rather I don’t get what you mean >.<
(tut mir leid LOL)
I was saying that my experience with trains hasn’t been bad concerning these… issues.
random searches. they stop the trains in the middle of nowhere and armed police walk through to check the passport of anyone they deem suspicious.
at least that’s how they did it in germany. in denmark the old mustachioed conductor did it with the ticket check as the train was in motion. much smoother
Damn that is brutal… :/ (but unfortunately not at all out of character)
I’ll have to seriously inform myself on this topic, thanks for making me (more) aware of it!
The train from Italy to France stops for 20(?) minutes just across the border and police walk through that carriages and look for “suspicious” people. They never made it up to 1st class where we were sitting. Then the train continues at 300km/h
