I think we should change the expression from “a little bird told me” to “a little owl told me”.

I use to be really into origami as a kid, maybe I should get back into it. I still have the books even…

I just realised that owls might be the most popular bird in origami. I took a quick look within my books and there were at least a dozen different models of varying skill levels.

I was pretty shocked when I went looking for YouTube videos trying to find the sleeping owl you did first, and I didn’t find that one, but I did find many others.

I’m pretty biased at this point on them, but even before that, they’ve always been very intriguing to me, and seemingly near everyone throughout human history.

Almost every culture seems to have good and/or bad owl myths, they live everywhere humans do, so everybody knows what some type of owl is, and they are capable of being beautiful and scary all at once.

I didn’t keep my sleeping owl, but I put the other one I made with my other stuff on my messy work desk and when my coworker came back, she noticed it immediately and recognized what it was.

I’ll have to give some others a try sometime. I haven’t done any origami since grade school, and it was fun to have another go at it. Scrolling through your community feed, there are many great designs out there. When I do, I’ll be sure to share it!

    Creativity knows no bounds

I’m always amazed at the first people who think up the art forms and the shapes for it. Like how do you even formulate this in your mind? Just awesome.
