I’m excited for flying mount updrafts and adventures but a little worried that mounting in combat will be awkward for the game.

There must be some new reason they want us to be able to get on a flying mount in combat but it’s odd that this doesn’t extend to other mounts and I also wonder if it will remove flavor from other parts of the game by making the choice to get into combat a bit more trivial. I’m just not sure about that one until I get my hands on it.

Right now if you choose to solo a champ or low man a group event there can be a trade off by choosing to disengage. That’s totally gone if you can decide to fly away whenever you want.

I think there’s not much of a difference, dying doesn’t inflict anything besides wasting a little time. If you use the combination of skyscale and other mounts, like the gryphon, you can quickly cross the map in a few seconds.

Allowing the player to waste a little less time could be seen as a quality of life improvement, which will push other people to also unlock the skyscale (I hate that lengthy quest line and the time gates).

There will be flying kryptis, so they can put you in combat, or they can be part of other events, for example metas. Some metas might have sections where you have to fly and kill some of them

do you still need to unlock it properly if you want to use it on all maps, right?

So I can continue to unlock it the old way after I got my griffon and continue crying because of so less time 😅

Yes, that’s also how I read it. However, on the new maps you will have an easier way to unlock the skyscale completely, instead of the long, tedious and expensive way of unlocking the skyscale now

So many articles prior to launch! It’s crazy! It looks like they’ve finally hit their stride as far as communication is concerned, and I’m all for it

From what I’ve read, skyscale is just free on new maps I guess - and you just have to unlock it to get it on other maps and get masteries. Because their updated rental is just a mount always enabled on those maps.

    Sounds very promising.

I am glad when finally everyone can enjoy the skyscale. Will make it more easy for newcomers.

I’m a sucker for anything movement related, because it always feels like a breath of fresh air to be able to traverse/explore the maps in a different way. My prediction is that those flying mount masteries will hit it out of the park for me, no matter how underwhelming the rest of the mini-expansion might be.

Updrafts just refill our bars? What, really?

Not only, tier 4 of the mastery is using the updrafts, tier 7 is the bar refill

Ah, thank God. My brain kind of derped out. So there might actually be animations and mechanics when someone steers his mount into an updraft.
