Nearly 90% of Windows Games now run on Linux, latest data shows — as Windows 10 dies, gaming on Linux is more viable than ever

However, the most recent stats from ProtonDB (via Boiling Steam) highlight that we are edging towards a magnificent milestone. The latest distilled data shows that almost 90% of Windows games now run on Linux. Having nine in ten Windows games accessible in a new Linux install is quite an achievement. The main difference seems to be that Boiling Steam doesn’t seem to care whether Steam Deck performance is a gaming-limiting factor. Moreover, Boiling Steam notes that other devs just seem to be averse to non-Windows gamers. 🖊️️🤖

If Valve creates an “entry point” for living room PCs, the console-beating Steam Machines will follow, argues Baldur’s Gate 3’s publishing director

I was surprised, in particular, by the muted response to the Steam Machine in our comments. The Steam Machine can only muster up 8GBs compared to the 10GB in the Xbox Series X and the 10 to 12GB in the PS5. VRAM is the memory dedicated to storing graphical information when playing games. I’ve found the response to Valve’s hardware reveals fascinating because it’s shown the different ways PC games fit into peoples’ lives. But, I know for others the order of their interest in Valve’s hardware will be radically different to mine. 🖊️️🤖

Valve announces three new products: the Steam Frame, Steam Machine and Steam Controller

We tested Valve’s NEW hardware: Steam Frame, Steam Machine and Steam Controller | Critical Rig - YouTube Watch OnFollowing on from the success of the Steam Deck, Valve is creating its very own ecosystem of products. The Steam Frame, Steam Machine, and Steam Controller are all set to launch in the new year. Four cameras on the outside of the Steam Frame track your surroundings and it can track you in the dark. It’s also designed to work with the new and improved Steam Controller—a dedicated antenna on the Steam Machine can connect up to four Steam Controllers. That’s one more than last time, and importantly means that the Steam Controller is as much a ‘standard’ controller as any other. 🖊️️🤖
