Do you strictly interpret ‘Brisbane’ as the BCC area, or will you tell people you live ‘in Brisbane’ when you’re just shy shy of Caloundra, Ipswich, or Toowoomba? I will always call Redcliffe, ‘Brisbane’, even though it was established long before Brisbane, but exclude Ipswich, but I don’t have any good reason for either.
Journos use ‘near Brisbane’ for up to 200km from King George Square, and ‘events in Brisbane’ frequently have listings for the Gold Coast.
Is Brisbane just a state of mind? :)
I use the same 5 LGAs that our politicians seemed to be using when talking about COVID rules. BCC, MBRC, Logan, Ipswich, and Redlands.
anything north of Deception Bay, west of The Gap, south of the Logan River isn’t Brisbane to me.
BCC area, but within that I live in FNB
@24Vindustrialdildo Far North Brisbane? Is that, like, Caboolture? :)
@24Vindustrialdildo @ anathema_device If he only counts BCC I fear he thinks Aspley is FNB
I remember when it was…

Why? I live closer to Sydney than Townsville. I live closer to Melbourne than Cairns. While those places are still in my state they may as well not be.

Are you suggesting that people from Sydney or Melbourne don’t care about what someone from FNQ is doing to the GBR?
Realistically I have more in common with a resident of Sydney than Cairns.

This is true, and I can understand why some in NQ would rather the state be split.

BCC, Moreton Bay, Pine Rivers, Ipswich and most of Logan fit my definition.
Definitely not the coasts.
