Not like this. This is a state prosecution for something that happened in-state. Epstein island is not. It would take federal prosecution, and the guy in charge of the federal government isn’t going to prosecute himself and his buddies.

I’m all for stringing pedos up by the nearest available body part but this accusation doesn’t easily pass a smell test on a number of levels, not least the behavior of the parents, both on the set and ongoing.

Also, aside from the accusation itself, this is the same Santa Fe district attorney’s office that prosecuted Alec Baldwin, the one that withheld exculpatory evidence and got his case dismissed, which is the part that everyone knows about because at least the judge was honest. But even before that end there were any number of “irregularities” in the prosecution, not least the number of prosecutors who just flatly quit before they found the one who didn’t, but withheld evidence in her bid to secure his conviction.

So if he’s guilty, string him up. But for the sake of kids who really are being abused and also the occasional accused that really are innocent, I genuinely hope this isn’t just a shakedown.

What I didn’t get about the Alec Baldwin though was why every right winged talking head was on his ass about it. He is definitely civilly responsible, as he cut corners and his a less than experienced armorer. But ffs, after the crow, why are armorers using actual guns on set‽ And why in the fucking fuck was there live ammunition within a mile of a movie set?

But Alex would have had no idea that it was anything more than a prop.

Using gas blowback airsoft models when other people are involved is still plenty authentic enough these days, especially because muzzle flash and smoke is easily added in post at this point if it’s even required.

Modifying for allowing for dry fire is probably not terribly hard to do.

Heck, they’re probably also easier to get exotic designs made for one-off props, too.

As a casual gun enthusiast. I really don’t understand the motivation to use real firearms on movie sets.

why every right winged talking head was on his ass about it.

That’s one I can actually answer, lol. I don’t know shit about an armorer’s job on set, but the right wing has had a hardon for Baldwin for years, ever since he mocked their orange lord and savior on Saturday Night Live very effectively, and more than once. I think he even got an Emmy award for it.

Not that anyone’s admitting anything, but given the prosecutor’s own fervent devotion to the orange chancre, political retribution was circulated as her own particular motivation at the time.

    Meet the parents:
The filing states that Rodis (the father) “is a former attorney who was convicted of federal conspiracy and wire fraud and was later disbarred following that prosecution for a multi-million-dollar scheme in which he used his law license to deceive vulnerable victims for profit.”

Rodis previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud after the scheme, which “defrauded more than 1,500 homeowners of approximately $6 million,” was brought to light, according to the filing.

The filing also included testimony from a director of photography on The Cleaning Lady set, who described Rodis as “pushy and manipulative” and said that he would “frequently encourage and tell the children to hug people on set, including Mr. Busfield.”

The accusers’ mother, LaSalle, has an “equally disturbing history,” the filing states, citing that she “has had multiple civil judgments entered against her for fraudulent and dishonest behavior.” She was sued for “various claims including fraud, conversion, and fraudulent transfer,” including allegedly unlawfully repossessing a Bentley car after selling it and writing bad checks to Las Vegas casinos, according to the filing.

Larry Stein, an attorney for Busfield, did not comment directly on the sexual contact charge in the indictment but said the grand jury declined to endorse grooming charges sought by prosecutors. Prosecutors declined to comment on what accusations it brought before the grand jury.

Stein said in a statement that a detention hearing already “exposed fatal weaknesses in the state’s evidence — gaps that no amount of charging decisions can cure.”

The original article said the boys were about to be replaced with other actors and that the mom is - well it didn’t say this but it’s the impression I got - “a piece of work”.
