I look forward to it being prohibitively expensive and still having stick drift.

Aren’t the Xbox controllers the only first party controllers that are priced reasonably?

Not after you factor in getting the rechargeable battery like they ought to be shipping with but don’t.

Replaceable AA batteries which obviously can be recharged are much better than integrated non replaceable rechargable batteries.

I’m all for gyro, it’s been a feature of every Sony and Nintendo console since PS3/Wii released 17 years ago.

That said the time to include it was the 2020 controller revision so that developers targeting the Series platform could assume that all players had access to the feature.

Controller features that release mid-gen are doomed to have limited uptake by consumers and developers alike.

But I guess it will be standard when the next console releases so that’s something to look forward to for 2027 :/

Honestly, would still be nice to have, for how much Xbox controllers are the de facto controller on PC as well.

Lots of games there between steam input, emulators, etc, where it just feels odd to not have that gyro in what’s otherwise a very premium controller (I’m using the Elite controller). It’s my favourite controller hands down, and yet I consider using my Switch Pro Controller just for gyro in some titles.

And yeah, better to lay that groundwork now for the next generation than miss out on it entirely.

Wow, can’t believe they still have time to reveal something this year, it’s already January!

I really wish they would have kept the Kinect voice features but put them in the controller. It was nice to be able to perform commands with your voice and with LLMs becoming big, it won’t be long before natural conversation with characters will be possible.

I have both a dual sense and a xbox controller and the dual sense is so superior it’s not even a competition so I hope they at least upgrade their sub par plastic materials.

It’s like PS is Lego and Xbox is Duplo. But they’re still the same cost.
