Radicalization has existed before social media. It’s a symptom of a failing system (liberal capitalism in this case). Yes, people might be polarized due to misinformation in some cases, but they are alo polarized due to seeing the contradictions in existing society, like the failure of the West to act on the Gaza genocide and many more issues.
Of course, while billionaire owned corporations control these mediums, they will influence the discourse in a way that benefits them, and they will never be a truly open forum for discussion.
This sounds like the NRA “yeah well people still kill each other with knives!” Like, yes, but the current technology has made the problem significantly worse.
