So I know (and agree with many here) that TikTok has arguably gotten worse since the U.S. acquisition — algorithm shifts, monetization pressure, more corporate vibes, etc.

But that got me thinking…

What if someone (or a group) made a fan-run, unofficial TikTok account dedicated entirely to Loops?

Not an official account — just a community-driven one focused on:

What Loops is

How it works (Fediverse connection, decentralization, etc.)

Why it’s different from TikTok

Benefits for creators

Benefits for viewers

Tutorials / onboarding walkthroughs

Showcasing great Loops creators

I’ve seen random individuals casually mention/promote Loops on TikTok, but I’ve never seen an account that’s fully Loops-focused.

Kind of like how Neptune or Skylight (other TikTok competitors) have TikTok accounts — except theirs are officially run marketing accounts. What I’m imagining is something more grassroots and community-powered.

Questions:

Do you think this would actually help spread awareness of Loops?

Or would promoting a Fediverse platform on TikTok defeat the point?

Would people here be interested in contributing clips / scripts / ideas?

Would this need coordination from Dansup, or should it stay fully independent?

Curious what you all think. Bad idea? Good idea?

From what I know about TikTok (edit: which is very little, don’t take it from me), the algorithm is very controlled, and posts (or entire accounts) that are not deemed worthy will never be shown to a large audience.

      I just checked, and

      Neptune

      has 265.9K followers, and

      Skylight.Social

      has 71.5K Followers

So, while not in the millions, I’d still say that that’s not bad.

      EDIT:

Apparently Neptune has decided to shut down:

Even then, part of the worthiness is staying on site. I doubt the algorithm is going to promote content where people don’t stick around to see more.
