This is a bit of a random shout to the Fediverse.

I would have always ranked my favourite podcasts as Zach Lowe’s and Bill Simmons’, in that order.

Over the last year, I have to say that Paul George’s podcast (Podcast P) has been hitting it out of the park. He’s had amazing guests recently, going from Stephen A Smith to Klay and everything in between.

Two more notes. He has great chemistry with his two cohosts, who tread the line between being helpful and entertaining but not annoying.

Second, PG is just super gracious and cool. He’s not arrogant like Dray or a know-it-all like JJ Reddick. He’s just a cool cat. He’s always trying to encourage the younger generation, he’s self-deprecating, and just a kind soul.

Go check it out.

Thinking Basketball. In depth stats driven podcast (no “this team wanted it more” bs “analysis”).

Also point out where stats may be misleading or counter intuitive.

I always listen to No Dunks (formerly The Starters/The Basketball Jones) and they’re always a bit of casual fun 😊

They even dive into other stuff not relating to basketball i.e. do movie reviews for the fast and furious franchise, but I sure do miss Leigh Ellis a lot 😞

If you like Pat Beverly’s antics, he has a podcast that’s alright.

I listen to Dunc’ed On Basketball which is like Thinking Basketball, stats heavy nerds talking.

The ETCs with KD. Everybody has their own opinion on KD (I’m a Thunder fan), but I believe he’s set up a really good podcast here along with his host. This especially rings true when it comes to episodes involving the personal experiences in the NBA and professional sports that him and his guests have. Its not the raw stats and news type of thing for the most part, but it goes in depth into what the players themselves feel when it comes to the shenanigans involved with being an NBA player. I suggest starting with the first two episodes which talk mainly about him and Kyrie on the Nets (they were both posted in September 2020; not the most up to date, but they were really interesting).
