I lose my mind when people use it to refer to people who are just older or something else. Generational marking is important for understanding why a generation acts a certain way. The events leading to them and during their developmental lives affects so much. A member of the Greatest Generation that lived through the depression and the wars is going to have different views on food and being self sufficient than someone who is Gen X or Millennial.
