By NYT:
According to Iran’s state broadcaster, Tehran’s conditions included U.S. war reparations to Iran, the recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and the end of American sanctions against Iran. The first two conditions would almost certainly be non-starters for the United States, while the third would be possible only if Iran is willing to make major concessions on its nuclear program, which it has been loath to do so far.
Yea, I’m pretty sure that we can’t, and shouldn’t, recognize Iran controlling the strait.
We are going to have to accept Iran controlling the strait, though.
