Insignia was rebadged products from other manufacturers IIRC. I think the batteries were actually Duracell. It’s the manufacturer’s that run lines for other brands with less QC, hence the lower price.
I don’t know if they still are, but Ikea rechargeables were eneloop with different wrapper and performed identically, I believe, to the black eneloops.

I’ve heard that basically all retail batteries are either Duracell or Energizer.
