I haven’t been watching much in terms of actual shows for a good while, then while listening to a podcast a host casually mentioned they had rewatched Chernobyl, how it still holds up, that there’s a reason it got as much acclaim as it did, etc. So I thought I’d give it a go and wow, loved it (still one episode left to watch).
Had me thinking, what else have I missed out on? What are some “absolute cinema” TV shows that still hold up and and are considered must watch?

Game of thrones was great for the first like 3 or 4 seasons
Hannibal
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Toast of London
Parade (the hbo one about aristocracy and stuff, very melancholy and beautiful)
Seasons 5 and 6 of GoT are great too, the last couple episodes of 6 are the best in the show imo
I couldn’t remember when they ran out of books tbh i just remember the show really kicking ass until they did run out
They ran out after season 5 IIRC, I still think season 6 was great but then after its conclusion the quality drop becomes noticeable
As someone who hasn’t watched GoT, I was put off from watching it because I heard how bad the last season (or two?) was. I do hear the first seasons are good, but is it worth watching if I have to either stop mid-way and cliffhanger myself or watch the bad seasons? Both seem like crappy options.
Well the show was really very good until they ran out of books to adapt. And JRRM will not be writing any more books for the series, so there is no satisfying tie up of all the loose ends available. Just the absolute dogshit season 8.
