They’re actually using grok when other models are available? I didn’t think anyone did that unless they wanted to make non-consentual porn. Or is that what they mean by important?
“Grok’s continued operation and availability is a matter of paramount national security,” the filing said, especially “in the event of armed conflict”—adding that the Department of War used Grok to “deploy over 2,000 munitions to 2,000 distinct targets within 96 hours during Operation Epic Fury.”
“Listen, the War-Crime-O-Matic is absolutely NECESSARY to national security, damnit! Who cares if they’re checks notes destroying the environment on a local and global scale with unpermitted gas turbines in clear violation of the Clean Air Act?? It’s not as if people need air like we NEED the baby-killing-o-tron-3000!”
The Pentagon has paid Musk’s company at least $200 million for use of the chatbot.
In for a penny, in for a Pound of Flesh!
could you imagine how many children could be killed destroying the environment?
adding that the Department of War used Grok to “deploy over 2,000 munitions to 2,000 distinct targets within 96 hours during Operation Epic Fury.”
And THANK GOD that it was.
Can you imagine what would have happened if it hadn’t been?
The United States might have lost in Iran…
you guys need to stop thinking that George Orwells novel ‘1984’ is an instruction manual
And Grok still fucked it up so badly that the US has to pay Iran 300 billion dollars just to end what Grok failed at. Not to mention all of those poor murdered schoolgirls that were bombed for no reason. The DOJ has been corrupted, and is now controlled directly by the billionaires. There is no more justice in the United States.
I know we’re probably years/decades/centuries away from actual artificial intelligence, but this just made me think, would computers and servers actually want clean air?
Probably better for cooling right? Or if they switch to fully solar it’s probably better to have clear skies?
A cooler climate is beneficial for cooling
Which is likely why in most fiction any sentient AI/CPU ends up trying to wipe humans out. We work against our best interests, instinctively; like breathing and keeping our environment habitable. So it’s easier in the longterm to put us in our place, rather than bother with logic.
We do what any living thing would do given the chance. We try to outcompete and outconsume the competition because that’s what evolution selects for. The universe has a tendency to form dissipative structures that increase entropy the fastest, and we are a result of that. Sure, Skynet or somesuch dystopian sci-fi ai wouldn’t be the product of evolution and as such wouldn’t be immediately predisposed to similar behaviour, but as soon as a competetive situation is introduced, that’s what you get.
I thought Donlon had broken up.
Not completely. Elon is a creepy loser, but he’s got tons of money, and the Orange Jackass loves money just slightly less than he loves himself
People that can afford to have their air cleaned for them have always thought this way.
Air purifiers are pretty cheap to make, but you shouldn’t fucking need to build one!
NO. This government has it priorities wrong.
