The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) welcomes reports that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has canceled a planned visit to New York following calls for his prosecution initiated by our organization and the Center for Constitutional Rights, in addition to pressure mounted by grassroots mobilization organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement and others.

According to reports by several media outlets, Ben-Gvir’s decision came after HRF filed a complaint with the United States Department of Justice and, together with the Center for Constitutional Rights, submitted a letter urging New York Attorney General Letitia James to launch an investigation into Ben-Gvir’s violations of New York State law and his crimes against New York residents.

HRF and the Center for Constitutional Righs have also called on Attorney General James to establish a dedicated Atrocity Crimes Accountability Task Force within the Office of the Attorney General. This task force should investigate all atrocity crimes perpetrated by or against New York residents in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, irrespective of the identity or nationality of those responsible.
