KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Laura Loomer, an ardent ally of President Donald Trump with a reputation for incendiary social media commentary, sat down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday after a dramatic turnaround on the war that could have political reverberations back in Washington.
Loomer had spent years minimizing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and amplifying Russian propaganda to her nearly 2 million followers. This week she had a change of heart.
“Just experienced my first air raid in Ukraine. Sirens blaring. This is everyday for every Ukrainian,” Loomer wrote on X during her visit to the country. “I often said I don’t care. Looking back, that wasn’t very nice of me to say.”
I hate this bitch so much, but I hate more that being a professional troll is so richly rewarded in this fascist hellscape.
By all rights she should be screaming into the void on 4Chan, but instead, she’s meeting with world leaders and apparently it’s fucking news.
And this world leader is forced to meet her, because he needs every support he can get.

A lot of the huge problems we have right now are maga people (both politicians and voters) that cannot feel sympathy for anyone they don’t know or any situation they haven’t personally experienced.
That’s unfortunately not a MAGA feature, but a human one; However, that Donald’s candidates have lost nearly every election (real elections, not primaries) in 2025 and 2026 is a good indicator that people who do possess some measure of empathy are getting out and voting. The downside is that Democrats aren’t going to do much other than make it marginally harder to rule by decree.
That is the very feature that MAGA cultivates.

I should have worded it better. It’s not JUST a MAGA feature, but also a Blue MAGA feature.
That said, we’ve seen some encouraging things this year. Both red and blue people were on the picket lines running silent sabotage in Minneapolis, and I’d be shocked if that weren’t the case in LA, Portland, and Chicago. We’re definitely seeing the tide turn at the ballot box, as Donald’s candidates have lost nearly every actual election (not including primaries, obv.) in 2025 and 2026 regardless of state or party affiliation, and most in districts Donald won in 2024.

The only reason she is there is because Ukraine is winning now. She has no principles other than to jump on whoever is popular at the moment.
Ukraine has had the popularity high ground ever since “I need ammo, not a ride”, though.
Ukraine hasn’t had any popularity among US Republicans until just recently. Republicans were completely pro Russian. Trump did everything in his power to force Ukraine to surrender.

How is Ukraine winning now? Last I heard it was kind of a stalemate.
They’ve gone from just surviving to being able to drone strike Moscow. Russia is on the defensive for the first time.
