Got one of those inexpensive micro-ereaders from China. Put a community firmware on it, added a few books, and it’s been remarkably effective in reducing doomscrolling and helping me accelerate reading!
3 sites! Comrade’s Library, Standard Ebooks, and Anna’s Archive. If I can only find a PDF, I typically check Prolewiki to see if there is a web-based reader at least, and then resort to PDFs on mobile if that isn’t available.

Where do you get book files? Annas? I struggled with a lot of stuff I wanted to read being pdfs

Never heard of it. I just use Z Library or the Z Library app that you can get on your Android tablet (which I love btw).
Here it is. It has a small selection of hard to find works in epub format.
