I saw this recently pretty much by accident on Netflix.

Wayward is a Canadian mystery thriller limited series created by Mae Martin for Netflix.

The story is set in 2003 in the fictional town of Tall Pines, Vermont, and follows a pair of teenagers and a local police officer uncovering the town’s dark secrets.

I had some suspension of disbelief bugbears while watching, but by the end, when the mysteries are resolved, they actually make sense.

It’s a story about intentional communities/families and cults, with deep ties to the hippie era.

Mae Martin, the creator and lead actor, is a 39 y.o. Canadian trans man, and plays a trans man.

The more I think about it, the more well done I think it is, in terms of the themes/concepts that Martin, I think, intended to explore.

    I watched it because I watch anything with Mae Martin. This was totally nothing like I was expecting, but I found it really compelling
