i’ve seen multiple tweets about this, i cannot confirm, but i wouldn’t put it past google. such an endlessly pigheaded and stupid company at every turn. they’re allegedly sending these emails out sporadically to some random subset of gmail users

Most likely not legit; emails are a primary login field for your Google account and there’s no way Google’s willing to delete billions of Google accounts out of accessing them.

They already scan the data every email you send and receive, and that data is worth more to them than any monthly fee.
