I think that’s a perverted way to view it.
As of right now private companies benefit from imprisoning people so they lobby to keep certain laws and retain an abundance of prisoners from petty crimes. On top of more private industries benefitting from selling military grade tech to police forces.
People being forced to provide free labor as an alternative to the death penalty is the lesser problem in the face of that.
