Let’s say we have some periodic function f. The goal is to represent it as a bunch of sine waves. This is called a Fourier series (FS).
The FS coefficients are given by
⌠2⋅π
1 ⎮ -i⋅k⋅x
f̂(k) = ─── ⎮ f(x)⋅e dx
2⋅π ⌡0
for whole numbers k. We can then approximate the original function with
n
___
╲ -i⋅k⋅x
╱ f̂(k)⋅e
‾‾‾
k = -n
and make the approximation better by making n larger.
For non-periodic functions, we can still get an approximation! The Fourier Transform (FT) uses a continuous range of frequencies instead of whole numbers, and the sum is replaced by an integral (the inverse FT).
FT’s are used everywhere, for example in signal processing and spectroscopy. If a recording contains an annoying high-pitched noise, we can apply the FT and filter the unwanted frequencies. Spectroscopy separates light into its different wavelengths. By comparing the resulting spectral lines with known measurements, we can determine which elements and molecules are present in stars and planets, for example.
idk what more to add ._.

Between the lot of us maybe we can find the money, knowledge, and time/energy to do something?

I’d be interested for sure!
Porkbun is what hexbear uses for domain names, and if need be it supports cryptocurrency. Hexbear seem use OVH for their server, but they probably don’t support crypto.
Hexbear seems to be “redacting” IP addresses by simply not dealing with docker nat changing the IP address?

Just call it feinberg.net/whatever, have all of feinberg’s reading materials on the site, and have the lemmy instance be at l.feinberg.net cause it works as an initial. Helps set the tone as something rooted in trans radicalism rather than attracting libs. Maybe we can finally have that transgender surgeries replacement so it wont just be on reddit
feinberg.net is already taken.

yeah i mean anything like .net .com or whatever
They are all taken.
Edit: well. There is .club .chat .cool .gay .lgbt

Could also be something similar, maybe feinbergarchive or something?
Maybe that sounds too official
Yeah. Especially if the goal is to have a Lemmy instance on a subdomain.

Interesting, and good to know.
lol but if it works it works I guess
I gotta read some docs.
I'm not a sysadmin, but
If youre serious, I would be up for contributing labor. I’m no wizard but I admin shit at work and am up for contributing in that kind of way (just dont make me an instance admin).
I understand you. I’m pretty much like that too. (Also I presume your netstat is my

Damn ur quick. I edited down my post real fast cause I didn’t want people hunting for my software lol. But yeah I can contribute labor.
Do you run encryptioninspace? Is pretty cool
Right, if we are at least two people that can do some sysadmin stuff that would be good (one of the reasons I haven’t made an “open” instance cuz I didn’t want to be the only admin, both sys and instance. But also don’t make me a moderator too)
I do run encryptionin.space

Yeah, its good to always have someone available. like, being the only sysadmin is great for your own stuff but the second its open its so much pressure and responsibility. And yeaaaaaaa I can’t administrate people, I dont have those social skills lol.
